Practical training

Candidates must be in possession of an appropriate provisional licence in order to be able to undertake LGV training. Providing incorrect information relating to licence details may result in candidates not being able to attend a course and/or carry out a test. Charges will still apply in these circumstances.

Insurance

TrainDrive’s insurance provides cover whilst candidates are driving our vehicles providing they hold an appropriate driving licence and are accompanied either by an instructor or test examiner.

Activities involved in LGV training can be hazardous and candidates are urged to exercise extreme care at all times. We cannot accept any liability or responsibility for injury however caused. TrainDrive cannot accept responsibility for candidate’s possessions or effects whilst on our property or in our vehicles.

Deposits and cancellations

A deposit may be required at the time of booking. We are unable to refund deposits unless a candidate’s licence is withdrawn due to medical reasons.

Notice of cancellation of a course must be given no less than 7 days prior to the commencement date. If notice of cancellation is given with less than 7 days before the start date, TrainDrive reserves the right to charge the full outstanding balance. TrainDrive will however, try to reallocate the course to another client and if successful, reduce the cancellation fee. Payment of outstanding balance must be made 7 clear working days prior to the commencement of training.

If the course has been cancelled due to unforeseen illness or incapacity, TrainDrive reserves the right to hold any relevant monies paid and upon receipt of supporting medical documentation, rebook the course at the earliest opportunity.

Disruption to courses

TrainDrive makes every effort to ensure that courses go ahead as arranged. We cannot however, be responsible for disruptions caused by bad weather, staff illness or other absence, unforeseen mechanical breakdown or postponement of tests by the DVSA. In the event of such disruption, TrainDrive will make every effort to ensure candidates receive the correct amount of training prior to the test.

TrainDrive reserves the right to curtail a course should the candidate prove to be unwilling to carry out instructions given, is felt to be a danger to themselves or other road users, pedestrians etc or to TrainDrive’s staff. Likewise, any inappropriate behaviour by the candidate shall result in the cessation of training. No refund shall be given in these circumstances.

Department of transport tests

TrainDrive reserves the right to withhold the use of the Company’s vehicles and staff for the test if for any reason it is felt that the candidate has not reached the required standard to drive safely without instruction. Please note that the DVSA require 10 working days’ notice of cancellation in order to secure a refund.
